A burglary suspect with a long rap sheet hanged himself inside a holding cell at an Upper East Side police station, authorities said Sunday.
Cops said Edward Soto, 51, was found hanging inside a cell at the 19th Precinct on East 67th Street around 10 a.m. He was alone in the cell at the time, officials said.
He was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Soto had just been arrested for allegedly burglarizing an Upper East Side apartment.
The incident is being investigated by NYPD’s Internal Affairs division.
