Yanks on top of world!

Whoop it up, New York — we’re back where we belong!

The Yankees took their rightful place as champions last night, spanking the Phillies, 7-3, to clinch their 27th World Series.

Bedlam broke out in The Bronx at 11:50 p.m., when ace reliever Mariano Rivera got Shane Victorino to ground out, capping Game 6 and a 4-2 Series victory.

Yankee players held up a special edition of The Post — with the huge red headline “27” — as they celebrated on the Stadium infield.

“This is just amazing!” screamed Yankee diehard Curtis Jones, commander of USS New York, from his front-row seat next to Mayor Bloomberg.

“Bringing the ship here felt like bringing hope back to New York. It was more fulfillment than a triumph. This, on the other hand, is a triumph!”

In what may have been his final game as a Yankee, Hideki Matsui played a game for the ages. “Godzilla” smacked a home run and had six RBIs, as fans begged the free agent not to say sayonara to The Bronx.

“He’s a great player, He’s amazing and we don’t want to see him go!” said Danielle Roumpus, 24, of North Massapequa, LI.

She joined in the chant of “MVP! MVP!” after Matsui hit a two-run homer to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead.

And, indeed, Matsui was named the Series MVP — the first Japanese-born player to win that honor.

“I love New York, I love the Yankees, I love the fans here,” the soft-spoken Matsui said.

Next stop for the Yankees: The Canyon of Heroes. New York will throw its heroes a traditional parade tomorrow that will begin at 11 a.m. at Battery Park and end with a City Hall celebration.

“It’s sweet that they won it at home,” Bloomberg said.

Fans took particular glee in besting Phillies pitcher Pedro “Who’s Your Daddy” Martinez.

One very prominent banner at Yankee Stadium last night said it all: “STILL YOUR DADDY.”

Of course, Yankee fans couldn’t resist taunting their bitter rivals, the Red Sox, winners of a mere seven World Series titles.

“Hey, Boston, let me know when you get to 27!” crowed Charlie Mazzocchi, 41, of Old Bethpage, LI. Fans hope the big win will be the start of a new Yankee dynasty at the team’s new ballpark.

“This sets the stage for the next 100 years of the Stadium!” said Kevin Lewis, 50, of Queens. “The tradition lives on!”

The celebrity gallery at Yankee Stadium last night included A-Rod’s gal pal, Kate Hudson, her stepdad, Kurt Russell, Spike Lee, Donald Trump, Regis Philbin and Bronx native Mary J. Blige, who sang the national anthem.

Celebrations broke out in Times Square at the final out, as fans stood on chairs, tables and garbage cans screaming, “27! 27!”

Gabriel Vamora, 30, of Queens, explained why he rushed to buy Yankees championship gear as soon as Game 6 ended: “Look out at the camaraderie on the street. If you have a hat on people are cheering with you and whistling and even giving hugs.”
