Report: Taconic mom smoked pot regularly and drank days before crash

Wrong-way driver mom Diane Schuler smoked pot on a regular basis and was drinking the weekend before the fiery crash that killed eight, according to a new report released today.

Her husband had claimed she did not booze it up and was the perfect mom.

The fact that Schuler used marijuana on a daily basis came to light today in a statement by her sister-in-law Joan Schuler that she made to New York State Police.

The statement was released to the victims’ families by Westchester DA Janet DiFiore,. sources said.

Diane Schuler’s husband, Danny Schuler, admitted to investigators that he and his wife drank together at an upstate campsite two nights before the terrible crash — but denied they were drinking the night before or on that day, sources said.

Schuler admitted that on July 24 — two days before the crash — he had a couple of beers and his wife had a few daiquiris, despite Schuler’s news conference soon after crash when he claimed, “She did not drink. She is not an alcoholic.”

“Daniel Schuler admitted drinking with Diane Schuler that weekend,” said an outraged Michael Bastardi, Jr. following a meeting in White Plains with authorities today.

“It’s totally the opposite of what [Danny] Schuler said at a press conference in August,” added Bastardi, whose dad Michael Sr., and brother Guy died in the crash. “It’s disgusting. It was all lies.”

Schuler, her daughter, Erin, 2, and her three nieces died in the head-on crash after she drove for nearly two miles in the wrong direction July 26 along the Westchester highway. Only Schuler’s son, Bryan, 5, survived.

According to a toxicology report after the accident, Schuler was drunk and high on marijuana at the time.
