Yanks boost Metro-North coffers

The Yankees victory has even helped fill the cash-strapped coffers at the MTA.

The new Yankees-E. 153 St. Metro-North station, which opened in May, brought 12 percent of the fans to the World Series clincher 6,009 of the 50,315 in the stands, records show.

August was the last time ridership came that close, when 5,582 fans took the train to see the Bombers and Red Sox square off.

By the end of the year, the railroad expects to have provided close to 500,000 trips to and from the station, said railroad spokeswoman Marjorie Anders.
