McQueen’s love agony

In the days before he killed himself, legendary designer Alexander McQueen was nursing wounds from a nasty breakup with a lover whose name he had tattooed on his arm.

The fashion icon — also reeling from his mother’s death — had told the Australian edition of Harper’s Bazaar that the man, whose name he didn’t disclose, had jilted him.

The cad was “a bastard who went back to Australia and I was left looking at his name,” McQueen said in the unpublished interview, pointing to the letters on his right arm, according to the Sydney Daily Telegraph.

McQueen was unofficially married to partner George Forsyth in 2000, but the relationship ended a year later.

Police yesterday said that they found “multiple notes” with his body that tried to explain his actions to friends, according to the London Sun. It was also revealed that he changed his will last year.

“Rather than feeling optimistic about the future, he was quite the opposite,” a source said.

Meanwhile, the British designer’s styles flew off the racks yesterday, and his company moved to take control of all his designs, demanding that all samples of his work be returned.

“I hope you will understand that in regards to the recent demise of Mr. Lee Alexander McQueen, our immediate priority is to secure all items and garments from current and past collections. We are therefore stopping all trafficking of samples,” the company said in a memo sent out industry-wide.

It was not known how many pieces were floating around, but their value is sure to skyrocket since McQueen’s shocking death Thursday at age 40.

Last night, Naomi Campbell and Helena Christensen displayed McQueen’s looks in at a Fashion Week event at Bryant Park as a tribute to the late designer.
