Bamboo-zled!

Part plant and all fab, spring’s must-have bag is grassy-glam. Gucci’s “New Bamboo” bag is an updated version of the brand’s iconic purse, first introduced in 1947. It’s been revamped with new materials and colors like magenta croc and additional accoutrements, from fringe tassles to metal chains and a long leather strap. But the handle — just like the original — is made from real bamboo.

And beautiful bag ladies are loving it.

Salma Hayek juggled her $4,500 python purse — and daughter Valentina — at meetings in Beverly Hills recently, while French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy sported a vintage version of the bag in Doha, Qatar. And it must travel well, since Evan Rachel Wood balanced her tiny frame with a medium version of the bag ($1,990) at the airport in Paris, while Camilla Belle rocked the long shoulder strap of her large leather version ($2,350) at the airport in Nice, France, just last week.

Each “New Bamboo” bag is handmade by artisans in the brand’s Florentine studio and takes more than 13 hours to create. The leather purses are comprised of more than 140 separate pieces. Prices range from $1,990 for black leather to $15,500 for blue croc at Gucci (725 Fifth Ave.).
