Paul McCartney to be honored at the White House

Paul McCartney will be honored at the White House with an epic bash featuring Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, the Jonas Brothers and funnyman Jerry Seinfeld among others, the Washington Post reported Monday.

The festivities, set for June 2 in the East Room, will honor the former Beatle as winner of this year’s Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the nation’s highest award for pop music.

Among the stars performing his works in tribute, the Post reported, will be Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, the Jonas Brothers, Dave Grohl, Jack White, Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Herbie Hancock and Corinne Bailey Rae.

The program will be taped and aired on PBS stations July 28.

McCartney is the third songwriter to win the award, with Wonder and Paul Simon taking it home in previous years.
