Bronx toddler beaten to death

Authorities are investigating the death of a toddler in the Bronx after police officers responding to a 911 call from her grandmother found her unconscious.

Police say Sanaa Brewington was found with her mother’s boyfriend about 3:20 a.m. Saturday at an apartment in the Soundview section.

The nearly 2-year-old girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Medical Examiner’s Office spokeswoman Ellen Borakove says Sanaa’s death was ruled a homicide.

She says the cause of death was blunt impact injuries to the torso with lacerations of the liver, the spleen, the pancreas and the duodenum.

There was no phone listing for anyone at the Colgate Avenue apartment where she was found.
