Lakers’ Artest wants to be tight end for Jets

Watch out Dustin Keller, Ron Artest wants your job.

The outlandish Lakers forward said on ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption” that he wants to play in the NFL and in a “perfect world” he would be tight end for the Jets — a position currently held by Keller.

“If I did get the opportunity I would not have a preference for a team because I am not good enough where I can choose, but in a perfect world it would be tight end for the Jets,” Artest, a Queens native, said.

Artest, 31, won an NBA Championship with the Lakers last year, but basketball was never his dream going up. The St. John’s product said he dreamed of a career as a football player or boxer and it’s a dream he has not given up on.

“It’s definitely an ambition,” Artest said. “If there’s a possibility, and I do get a chance, you won’t see Ron Artest pass, you will see Ron Artest see what he can do.”
