Gangbanger convicted in shooting that killed innocent teen

A Brooklyn gangbanger was convicted Thursday of killing a pretty 16-year-old girl in a wild Brighton Beach boardwalk shootout and could face 125 years to life behind bars when he is sentenced next month.

Iloune Driver, 21, shot and killed innocent bystander Tysha Jones, 16, during a 2011 melee with rival gang members, prosecutors said.

“My baby can rest in peace now,” mom Cynthia Jones, 51, said after she heard the Brooklyn Supreme Court verdict.

Driver rocked back and forth with his eyes closed as the jury read the verdict. He was one of two shooters who opened fire in the crazed shootout, which took place on the hottest day of the year amid the chaos of a beach crowded with students home from school for Brooklyn-Queens day.

The former Crips member – who has nine prior busts for gun, drug, and robbery charges – was convicted on four counts of assault for hitting four people in addition to Jones.

He faces 25 years to life on the murder rap and 25 years for each assault.

“The defendant will be remanded,” Judge Deborah Dowling said.

Driver will be sentenced December 6.
