Firefighters responding yesterday to a blaze in an abandoned Queens garage made a shocking find in the smoldering rubble — the charred corpse of an unidentified man.
The fire on 120th Street near Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill began at about 12:55 a.m. and took 25 minutes to extinguish, officials said.
Neighbor Sardar Wasi, 72, said that in the last five years the dilapidated garage, which measures 20 feet by 8 feet, had become a haven for drug addicts and the homeless.
Fire marshals said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
