Lara Spencer upped to co-host on ‘GMA’

Lara Spencer, who recently signed a new deal to remain at “Good Morning America,” is getting promoted to co-host of the ABC morning show.

Spencer had been lifestyle anchor of “GMA” since March 2011, and part of the team that helped break the “Today” show’s 16-year ratings win streak.

Her new title puts her on par with co-hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.

The promotion also comes as “GMA” has seen some recent anchor turnover, with Sam Champion leaving for The Weather Channel in December and Josh Elliott bolting for NBC Sports last month.
