Stupid thief in ‘slip’-up

Hey, rules are rules.

A Long Island bank teller foiled a would-be robber — when she coolly refused to hand over any cash without a withdrawal slip.

The female thief waltzed up to the teller’s window at the TD Bank in Wantagh Sunday afternoon, Nassau County cops said.

“I need $5,000,” the woman demanded.

The quick-witted teller replied, “I can’t help you with that amount of money.

“For that type of amount, you have to fill out a withdrawal slip,” she explained.

The stickler then “directed the suspect to a customer-service representative,’’ explained Nassau Detective Sgt. John Giambrone — and, incredibly, she abided.

When she sat down with the rep, the teller hit the panic button.

The suspect asked, “Did somebody press the alarm?” and ran out.

Half an hour later, the thief — about 30 years old — showed up at TD Bank in East Meadow.

This time, she had a more forceful approach.

“I have a bomb — give me fifties and hundreds,” she told the teller, cops said.

This teller complied and handed her a wad of cash — along with a dye pack that splattered the fleeing thief with ink, Giambrone said.

“She was seen dumping the money,” cops said.

“She didn’t do well,’’ said Giambrone.
