Suspect in mugging spree against Asians held on bond

A career crook wanted for allegedly targeting Asians in eight violent East Harlem muggings was ordered held yesterday on one of the alleged attacks, with the rest still under investigation.

Jason Commisso, 34, committed the eight attacks on Asian men and woman late last month, prosecutors say.

Commisso was ordered held in lieu of $150,000 bond or $75,000 cash bail on the one robbery for which he has so far been charged — that of an Asian woman in an elevator at 1641 Madison Ave. on Jan. 24.

In that robbery, Commisso allegedly punched the victim in the face — breaking her cheekbone and cutting her eye and chin — as her purse and cellphone were stolen.
