Knicks starters still in flux

Mike Woodson waffled last night on what his ultimate starting lineup will be down the stretch and in the playoffs. Fact is, now that the key guys are all back, Woodson said he still needs time to figure it out.

In fact, Woodson cares more about which five finish. Woodson has had 15 starting lineups this season, but seems to be rooting for the starting unit he sent out for last night’s 96-86 win over the Bucks.

Woodson was asked last night if that smallball alignment of Raymond Felton-Jason Kidd-Iman Shumpert-Carmelo Anthony-Tyson Chandler the one he’d like to roll with all the way to the playoffs.

Last week, Woodson said ultimately he’d like to have Kidd come off the bench so as to save his back. Woodson flip-flopped the next day, saying he’s unsure what he will do with Kidd.

Kidd, whose suffering from back spasms which could be a symptom for a more serious disk problem, returned last night. But down the stretch Woodson put in J.R. Smith with the starting four. .

“Nothing is set in stone,’’ Woodson said. “I’m not flip-flopping on anything. …. These are people I’m going to start tonight. Nothing has ever been set in stone. I think we have a group of players who can all play … Everybody can’t play 30-plus minutes a game. We’ll take it a game at time.’’

It’s unusual for a potential championship-contending club to still have no idea what works best but these are the injury-riddled Knicks whose extreme depth is its biggest asset. The controversial call Woodson made initially in putting Amar’e Stoudemire on the bench for good to keep Melo at the 4 will be called into question if this team underachieves. Stoudemire (17 points) sat the final 7:58 last night.

“We don’t have enough data to say if it’s good or not,’’ Woodson said of the Shumpert-Kidd-Felton troika.

Knicks to host Sandy Hook kids

The Knicks will host 150 children, families and teachers from Sandy Hook Elementary School today when the team faces the Kings.

About 20 children from the Newtown (Conn.) Choir from Sabrinas Encore Products will sing the national anthem. On Tuesday, members of the Knicks’ organization and the Knicks City Dancers visited Newtown, where 20 children and six adults were killed in December by a gunman .
