Fordham’s Smith to miss remainder of season with broken hand

Fordham has once again been bitten by the injury bug.

Rams guard Bryan Smith will miss the remainder of the season for Fordham after suffering a broken right hand, The Post has learned.

Despite going through a bit of a slump this season, Smith was the Rams’ fourth-leading scorer, averaging 7.9 points per game and lead the team in 3-pointers made with 43.

Smith’s injury caps off a disappointing sophomore season for the Brooklyn product. A year after averaging 9.6 points and averaging over 30 minutes a game, Smith’s inconsistent play and tendency to get into foul trouble led to a drop in minutes and production.

The injury is just the latest for the Rams, who have played 13 games this season without senior forward Chris Gaston after he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last November and aggravated the injury in January.

Devon McMillan also missed time earlier this year with a shoulder injury before he was granted a release from the school.

With Smith out for Fordham’s final four games, freshmen Jermaine Myers and Jeff Short are likely to get more minutes for the 6-20 Rams.
