Kerry vs. America (the sequel)

Quick: Who poses “the greatest challenge” to US foreign policy?

The Iranians, with their quest for nukes?

The Islamists in the broader Mideast?

How about the Chinese, with their online hacking and growing military might?

Answer: None of the above. It’s Congress.

That was John Kerry’s claim in his first major speech as secretary of state.

“In many ways,” he said, “the greatest challenge to America’s foreign policy today is in the hands not of diplomats but of policy-makers in Congress.”

Imagine that: No sooner does Kerry leave Congress than he blames his former colleagues for looming cuts to his budget.

Then again, this isn’t the first time Kerry has painted his fellow Americans as problems. Who can forget the mud he threw at US soldiers in Vietnam in 1971 — right after returning from service there himself?

It’s unclear which Americans Kerry will target next. But here’s some free advice for President Obama: Given this record, you might want to make sure this guy doesn’t leave your team — at least until your presidency is safely over.
