‘Silence’ is gold for your phone

Do you often manually change your phone’s volume and other settings ahead of regular meetings and then forget to switch them back?

The Silence app will let you alter your phone’s settings for specific time periods, based on events you have scheduled in your Google Calendar.

Just enter your event and select its start and end times and whether it repeats on certain days of the week, and if so, until what date. Or you can use an existing calendar event.

Then you can select settings for your phone’s ringer, notifications, alarm and media during your appointment, and whether the phone’s Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile data and airplane mode should be on or off.

After your event is over, you can either have your settings change back or specify other ones.

For instance, you could have your phone’s ringer set to silent at the beginning of a meeting and have it switch to vibrate or stay silent afterward. Or you can set your alarm’s volume to a low level at the beginning of a particular time period and have it switch to a higher level later.

Silence is free for Android-based devices, but there’s also an ad-free version available for $1.99. There are no plans to launch versions for other smartphones. Some of Silence’s features won’t work on older Android operating systems.
