5 Questions for Willie McGinest

NFL Network analyst and three-time Super Bowl champion Willie McGinest talks Seahawks defense and inexperience and the advantages of the game being in New Jersey with The Post’s Justin Terranova.

Q: What makes the Seahawks defense so effective?

A: You have to worry about that athletic front-seven. They don’t have to take guys off the field when they pass rush because they are interchangeable. Inside they have guys that are stout enough to stop the run and are great pass rushers. It’s going to be tough for a quarterback that’s not mobile to get out of the way, so Peyton (Manning) has to get the ball out of his hands pretty quick. On the outside, these DBs are pretty aggressive because their front allows them to play press, take chances.

Q: As a defense, what would you emphasize against Manning?

A: You have to get off the field on third down and not let them sustain drives and march the ball down the field. It’s demoralizing and keeps the defense off field.

Q: It’s the first Super Bowl for all the Seahawks players, is that a factor?

A: Pete (Carroll) is a pretty bright guy, so he’ll figure it out. It’s comparable to the national championships because you have a long time before the game, so you have to manage your time. And Pete’s pretty good with that. They’ll have to make some adjustments. It could be a little overwhelming at times.

Q: Do you like the game being in New York?

A: I think it’s great, even if it is a little bit different. It’s a brand new stadium and New York is a great place to play football. I understand with the weather may not be ideal, but it is football weather. Both teams will have to deal with the same elements, so it’s not catered to one side

Q: Is it a concern watching another Super Bowl opportunity slip away from the Patriots?

A: It’s still a young team around Tom (Brady). And they always have a chance to go to the Super Bowl with him and (Bill) Belichick there. It’s something they kind of have come accustomed to and finding a way to get there when everyone else doubted them.
