‘Hell on Wheels’ off-track after heavy rainfall

AMC has shut down production on its Western drama series “Hell On Wheels” — after heavy rains threatened to flood the show’s set in Calgary, Canada.

“Hell” was originally scheduled to go on hiatus this Thursday, but the network pulled the plug late Friday — almost a week early — sending cast and crew members home after heavy rains pelted the Calgary area, according to deadline.com.

The show’s sets haven’t yet been effected, but producers were in the “better safe than sorry” mode and took the preventative measures just in case, according to the report.

Flooding in nearby High River claimed two lives, according to the report.

The cast and crew were in the middle of shooting the sixth episode of the show’s third season when the production was closed down.

Shooting is expected to resume after the hiatus.

“Hell” is set in 1865 during construction of the first transcontinental railway (which is referred to as “Hell on Wheels” by the men working on the project).

Its stars include Anson Mount, Colm Meaney, hip hop artist Common, Dominique McElligott and Tom Noonan.

The 10-episode third season is slated to premiere in early August.
