Tractor trailer kills 73-year-old woman

A tractor trailer struck and killed a 73-year-old woman in Brooklyn this morning, police said.

Ngozi Agbim, of Buckingham Road, was crossing outside of the crosswalk at the intersection of Church Avenue and Prospect Expressway around 9:40 a.m., when the tractor trailer was traveling west on Church Avenue, cops said.

The driver tried to make a right-hand turn and struck the elderly woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police added.

Meshket Hossain, 23, a student from Kensington said he often saw the woman supervising children.

“She slipped and fell when the truck was turning,” he said. “We used to see her every day, walking with kids.”

Police said no criminality was suspected but the driver received a summons for failure to exercise due care. His identity was not released.

Calixo Toeey, a store clerk nearby, says the intersection is extremely dangerous.

“Accidents happen here all the time,” Tooey said. “Big trucks come this way and make wide turns.”
