‘House of Cards’ promises more drama for sophomore season

Political thriller “House of Cards” was filled with drama during its first season, and if the trailer for the second is anything to go by, the tension won’t ease up anytime soon.

“One heartbeat away from the presidency and not a single vote cast in my name,” Kevin Spacey’s Francis J. Underwood sneers at the beginning of the clip. “Democracy is so overrated.”

Whereas the first season of the original Netflix series focused on Underwood’s relentless pursuit of the vice presidency, its second will deal with the fallout from all the political backstabbing and double-dealing that got him there.

Produced by David Fincher, the series also stars Robin Wright, Kate Mara and Michael Kelly.

“House of Cards” premiered last February to rave reviews, garnering multiple Emmy awards and Golden Globe nominations.

The second season of “House of Cards” will premiere on February 14. As with the first slate of episodes, all 13 will be available on that date.
