Dominique McElligott to star in ABC ‘astronaut’ drama

Actress Dominique McElligott (“Hell on Wheels”) has landed the lead role in ABC’s upcoming drama series “The Astronaut Wives Club.”

The series — set in the 1960s — tells the real story of the young wives of America’s astronauts during the height of the Space Race and is based on the book by Lily Koppel.

McElligott will play Louise Shepard, who struggles to uphold her “perfect” image and her complicated marriage to husband Alan once he becomes the first American in space.

The 10-episode series from “Gossip Girl” co-creator Stephanie Savage co-stars JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Odette Annable, Zoe Boyle, Azure Parsons and Desmond Harrington.

“Wives Club” — originally set to premiere this summer — is now expected to air in midseason.
