Tuna’s horse isn’t a HOFer

The “Snackster,” as Hall of Famer Bill Parcells calls him, just couldn’t get back in the race.

Seeking his third straight victory, Saratoga Snacks finished third in a field of four after a rough trip down the backstretch at the 6 1/2-furlong John Morrissey Stakes yesterday at the Spa.

Parcells’ 4-year-old broke well, but B Shanny took the early lead. As jockey Joel Rosario moved Snacks through an opening on the rail, he bumped with B Shanny and was forced to check. The race was lost there as Saginaw overtook both to win his fifth in a row.

Parcells never liked excuses. But Saratoga Snacks had a good one.
