Fake correction officer guilty

He won’t have to break into prison now.

Tubby Matthew Matagrano, 36, pled guilty in Manhattan Supreme Court yesterday to posing as a corrections officer and sneaking into a Manhattan jail on February 27th.

During the bizarre 7-hour escapade, Matagrano sexually assaulted an inmate, stole a $2,500 walkie talkie and handed out cigarettes as he strolled unfettered through the Manhattan Detention Complex on White Street.

This isn’t a first for the 300-pound corrections enthusiast accused of sneaking into jails in four boroughs.

“He has emotional issues,” said his defense lawyer Carlos Matir.

The curious criminal waddled into court in a bright orange jumpsuit and demurely answered “yes” when asked whether he was guilty of each of the five counts against him.

He faces ten years on the top charge of burglary in the second degree when he’s sentenced in August and still has an outstanding case in the Bronx.

The registered sex offender’s long rap sheet includes a conviction for sodomizing a 15-year-old boy.
