Chipper Jones saves ex-teammate from Atlanta snow

Chipper Jones always could drive ’em home.

When a rare snowstorm besieged the unprepared Atlanta area on Tuesday and slowed highway traffic to a miserable halt, current Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman was caught in the gridlock.

That’s when Jones, the retired Braves slugger/rugged outdoorsman, sprang into action. His girlfriend, Taylor Higgins (a former Playboy model, natch), described the rescue mission:

Jones, who retired following the 2012 season with 462 homers, 1,623 runs batted in and 150 stolen bases (though he never was known for his wheels), handled the pickup on an ATV.

And …

Members of the Detroit Pistons could have used Chipper’s chauffeur service. They were unable to fly into Atlanta, forcing the postponement of Wednesday night’s NBA game against the Hawks.
