Prison-guard baby mama of cop killer gets one year jail

The prison-guard baby mama of double cop killer Ronell Wilson was sentenced to a year and a day in prison Wednesday in Brooklyn Federal Court.

Nancy Gonzalez had sex with the cold-blooded murderer several times behind bars and gave birth to their son, Justus, last March. She has since lost custody of the child after she admitted to driving drunk with him in her car.

Gonzalez, 30, tearfully begged Judge Brian Cogan for mercy and cited her horrific childhood as having sent her into a spiral of destructive decisions.

“Allow me to pick up the pieces of my broken life so I can put it back together for [son] Justus,” she said in court while reading a written statement.

“This does not define who I am,” she insisted.

The former prison guard suffered unspeakable sexual abuse from her own family members throughout her formative years, according to her attorney Anthony Ricco.

“Miss Gonzalez was a person who was really damaged as a young child and a teen,” Ricco told the court. “She is here by herself. She’s now struggling through life on her own.”

But prosecutors countered that Gonzalez put other staffers and prisoners at grave risk with her behavior – and was fully aware that her conduct was reprehensible.

“The amount of things that could have gone wrong in the prison while this was going on is endless,” said federal prosecutor Celia Cohen.

“She wanted to help him,” she said. “She wanted to help his predicament.”

Cogan acknowledged her harrowing youth and said that she has become “divorced” from reality.

“She had the most horrific childhood of anyone I’ve ever seen,” he said. “It’s like something out of a movie that you would say never happened – yet did happen.”

But the jurist said that he had to consider more than her emotional rehabilitation in meting out his sentence.

“I have to look at not just what’s best for her,” said. “This guy Wilson essentially used her – with her full knowledge and cooperation – to create a tinderbox at this specific unit at the MDC.”

Gonzalez looked on stoically as he rendered his decision and did not comment outside of court. She is due to turn herself in to begin the term in April.

Wilson was sentenced to death for the 2003 murder of two undercover NYPD detectives during a gun buy sting gone bad on Staten Island.

Gonzalez said that she wanted to give the condemned killer something to live for by bearing him a child and theorized at the time that fatherhood might have saved him from the death penalty.

She later distanced herself from Wilson and refused to testify on his behalf at his re-sentencing trial.
