Rodeo Clowns and PC Wars

The Issue: A Missouri rodeo clown banned for life for wearing a mask of President Obama in a tasteless skit.

***

I think what happened with the rodeo clown in Missouri sums up what ails America (“Send in the Clowns,” Editorial, Aug. 15).

We’re not allowed to laugh anymore and when we are, we are told what we can and can’t laugh at.

Political correctness has destroyed our sense of humor.

Add to that all the phony scandals, unemployment, global warming, etc. and this country just isn’t fun anymore.

The last time people were in an uproar over a caricature, it was the Islamist extremists threatening violence over cartoons of their prophet.

Now we have the elites and the NAACP upset that a clown wore a mask of our president and demanding that the full force of the government be used to punish these transgressors.

Did I miss something? At some point did President Obama actually morph from a run-of-the-mill politician into a personal representative of the Almighty?

Our presidents are routinely mocked and generally deserve to be. Who the heck is this guy that he is supposed to be revered instead of critiqued? Has anyone ever heard of the First Amendment?

Jay Leno should have the rodeo clown on for an interview.
