Neighbor’s pet pig fighting tenants: lawsuit

What a swine!

Residents at a condo building in Queens are suing the owners of a pet pig, claiming the animal has been frightening residents.

Michael Kurtz, president of Clearview Gardens co-op in Whitestone, claims Petey the troublemaking pig was supposed to get the boot on July 1 — but owners Danielle and Louis Forgione refused to give him up.

The city’s Department of Health notified the couple in January it must get rid of their porky pal, explaining rules forbid pigs in the city because they are wild and dangerous, the lawsuit states.

But the couple ignored the order and continued to walk the pig in the building’s courtyard, freaking out some residents, the lawsuit and tenants claim.

“[Petey] has caused fear for persons and property,” according to the suit, which was filed Aug. 18 Queens Civil Supreme Court.

The city’s order notes that pigs begin to bite at scratch at 12 months old and pose public health risk, just like “hippopotamus, antelope and giraffe.”

The co-op now demands the agency “seize and dispose of” Petey.

The pig also caused complaints in the building in December, when Jewish residence claimed he had been rooting around the courtyard, disturbing Jewish residents.

The lawsuit also names the city’s Department of Health, which failed to take action when residents reported the couple let the pig stay passed its July 1 eviction date.

It notes the couple is “still harboring the animal.”
