Budig joins ‘The Better Show’

For many actors, talking about themselves comes with the territory.

You do a project. You go out and promote it. Hundreds of microphones and tape recorders are thrust in your face as you walk the red carpet.

Rebecca Budig, who played Greenlee on “All My Children” and has a role in Selena Gomez’s new movie, “Getaway,” is still doing the talking — but, this time, she’s asking the questions on “The Better Show,” the syndicated talk show which will debut on two new TV homes this season (its seventh).

On Monday, it bows on Ch. 55 (6 a.m.). It will then premiere Sept. 30 on Hallmark Channel (in a timeslot yet to be determined.).

Budig will join co-host JD Roberto. The show — which is produced out of studios on 50th St. — also includes correspondents Sarah Bernard, Jennifer Adams and Mar Jennings.

Segments cover the basics like cooking, service pieces and celebrity interviews — but Budig, 40, says the emphasis is on self-improvement.

“It’s kind of nice when we have celebrities talk about giving back,” she says, citing “The Big Bang Theory” Emmy nominee and Ph.D. Mayim Bialik, who spoke about her role in an organization that tries to get girls interested in science.

Budig had some talk-show experience before signing on to do the show, which is produced by Meredith, publisher of Ladies Home Journal.

“I hosted ‘Full Frontal Fashion’ on We. I co-hosted ‘The View’ a couple of times. I enjoyed doing that,” says Budig, who also won the only season of “Skating With the Stars.”

“One of my favorites was ‘Sports Illustrated for Kids’ on CBS. It was such a great show,” she says. “Interviewing athletes was one of the most challenging things I’ve had to do.”

Even though she’s out of the soap business, Budig, who is married to Time Warner exec Michael Benson, still has pals in daytime, such as Cameron Mathison, whom she’d like to bring on the talk show.

“He teaches mediation. I think it would be great for him to talk about that for kids,” she says. “He’s so passionate about it.”

The show’s opening-week lineup includes Tim McGraw, Josh Duhamel (Budig’s former “AMC” co-star), Alison Sweeney and Jennifer Love Hewitt (“The Client List”).
