Russian pol mocks DC shooting

In an outrageously ill-timed knock at President Obama, a Russia’s politician made a mocking reference to “American Exceptionalism” Monday when tweeting about the fatal shootings at the Washington Navy Yard.

“A new shootout at Navy headquarters in Washington – a lone gunman and 7 corpses. Nobody’s even surprised anymore,” tweeted Alexey Pushkov, while the bodies were still warm. “A clear confirmation of American exceptionalism.’”

Pushkov, a member of the Russian Parliament’s foreign affairs committee, was referring to the “American Exceptionalism,” which President Obama talked about in his speech last week about possible intervention in Syria.

“That’s what makes us exceptional,” Obama said about US willingness to use military might for the right cause. “With humility, but with resolve, let us never lose sight of that essential truth.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin later questioned the concept in an op-ed piece for The New York Times.

“It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation,” Putin wrote.

Furious Americans fired back on Twitter, with many suggesting Pushkov look in the mirror.

“In Soviet Russia, Workplace shoots YOU!!” wrote Dan Joseph.

“Russia assassinates and jails people for criticizing Putin, and Alexey Pushkov has the chutzpah to lecture America about equal rights?” AG wrote.

”If I wanted your opinion I would have put my request at the bottom of a vodka bottle,” cracked SunnyRight.

The taunts got to the thin-skinned Russian, who replied by whining, “Americans have thrown insults at me” while responding in a series of tweets.

“Exceptional Americans! Some of you have just proved that you are really exceptional – first of all, by your level of hatred and animosity,” he tweeted. “The hatred of the US from American citizens is outstanding.

One writes: ‘Perhaps we ( i.e. , USA) shouldn’t have saved you from Germans in the second world war’!!!”
