Another blast of winter bearing down on greater New York — the second this week — could dump more than six inches of snow on the city on Saturday, blanket other Tri-State communities under 10 inches or more, and coat the whole mess with a treacherous layer of ice, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow in the city will turn to sleet and freezing rain on Saturday night, making roads in all five boroughs hazardous, the NWS announced.
Temperatures on Saturday will hover in the 20s throughout the region, with snow-blowing winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour. The winter storm watch for Saturday also covers parts of northeast New Jersey, the lower Hudson Valley and southwest Connecticut.
The NWS advisory issued on Friday morning said accumulations of snow, sleet and ice throughout the area are likely to affect travel.
The storm front is expected to clear out early Sunday morning, with temperatures hitting a high of 37 degrees, the NWS announced.
