‘Yeah, whadda ya gonna do about it?’ NYC ‘rudest city in America’

A bunch of blinded Americans from parts of the country with one or fewer professional sports teams and really bad food voted New York the rudest and most arrogant state in the nation.

These out-of-towners with nothing better to do than answer poll questions also told Business Insider that New York is one of the craziest states, and is among the states with the most drunks.

Hey, buddy, you’d drink, too, if your prostitute-chasing former governor were trying to get elected again, or if your mayor told you you couldn’t drink Sprite or Dr. Pepper in big cups.

But rude? Puh-leeze! Get a life.

“Being in a big city, you become guarded,” said Gene Levin, 25, a lawyer from the West Village, who was polite enough to take time out of his busy schedule and share his views on the subject.

“And everyone here is very busy. We have someplace to be and things to do. People probably think that makes us seem aloof. Every state is full of nice people and mean people. These perceptions are, like, 20 years old.”

“I just helped three German tourists find the Abercrombie store on Fifth Avenue,” said Jillian Bray, 23, a law student.

“I spent six or seven minutes with them. Maybe people get the idea from TV and movies. Everything changed after 9/11. People are more focused on each other, and less selfish.”

Despite having to put up with our haughty ways, these otherwise misguided poll-takers were smart enough to realize that New York state does have the best food.

Nineteen percent of the 1,600 people surveyed said the finest dining could be found in New York state, the highest percentage among all the states

And 13 percent said we have the best sports fans. But before you start doing the wave, or starting a “We’re Number One” chant to celebrate, consider this: 11 percent of them think we have the worst sports fans.

They must have been at the Yankee game when A-Rod got booed and cheered in the same inning.

Pollsters asked Americans about their views on other states, and the results were an abject lesson in stereotypes.

West Virginia and Alabama got the nods for ugliest states. And voters said Mississippi was the dumbest state.

Anyway, they like us more than Texas. Voters said the Lone Start state is the one they’d most like to see kicked out of the country.
