Bloody trail of ‘rapist’

Cops had an easy time catching a wounded rapist in Queens — the fiend left a trail of his own blood after jumping through a window while fleeing the victim’s home, police said.

Andres Santana, 30, broke into a home on Ninth Street in Astoria through a first-floor window at around 3:50 a.m. yesterday before making his way to the sleeping victim’s bedroom with a knife in his hand, authorities said.

Santana then raped the 22-year-old woman, with whom he is acquainted, according to police.

The victim’s father came charging out of his bedroom when he heard his daughter struggling with the knife-wielding attacker and rushed into her room to help her.

The father found Santana savaging his daughter and attempted to wrestle the rapist to the ground, cops said.

After a brief struggle with the father, Santana fled the bedroom and jumped through a window in the back of the house, landing in the back yard and badly injuring himself.

Santana hobbled away but he didn’t get very far, authorities said.

Police showed up and followed his bloody trail to a neighbor’s property, where he was arrested and taken to Elmhurst Hospital to be treated for multiple injuries.

Santana was charged with rape, criminal sex act, burglary, criminal mischief and menacing, cops said.
