Westport rained out; game pushed to today

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Little League World Series game between New England champion Westport, Conn., and Northwest champion Sammamish, Wash., was rescheduled for today.

Little League officials made the ruling last night after a thunderstorm halted play for more than an hour in the game between Mexico and Panama.

Mexico 4, Panama 2

Jorge Romero put Mexico in front with one big swing, and then he finished the job from the mound.

Romero hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh, and Tijuana, Mexico, rallied past Aguadulce, Panama last night to earn a berth in the international championship game.

“I was just thinking my job was to get a hit and get on base so I could score a run,” Romero said.

The rain-delayed victory set up a rematch between Mexico and Tokyo tomorrow.
