Giants’ Jenkins knee still ailing

Cullen Jenkins did not get out of the Giants latest loss unscathed, as he walked about the locker room on Monday sporting a large boot on his right foot. The veteran defensive tackle said he suffered injuries to his Achilles and knee and, a day after the game, he was very sore.

“If you had to play today, you’d be like, ‘I don’t think I’d be able to go’,’’ Jenkins said. “But I was able to finish the game with it. Obviously it hurt, I was limping a little bit. Hopefully we can get the inflammation out of it, get it calmed down and get back rolling.’’

This next game is not one Jenkins wants to miss, as the Giants face his most recent former team, the Eagles, Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

Eli Manning is hoping big brother Peyton and the undefeated Broncos can do the Giants a favor this weekend.

“Dallas is [playing the Broncos] this week, so we feel we’ve got to get a win here and hopefully he’ll get a win and we can be one game back,’’ Eli said.

The offense has sagged, shockingly so, putting offensive coordinator and play-caller Kevin Gilbride in the center of a storm. But he’s not going anywhere. “I’m very confident in our offensive coaches,’’ Tom Coughlin said. “They’ve proven that over the years. We’re all going like this,’’ said Coughlin before scratching his head. … Coughlin praised rookie DE Damontre Moore, who had a big day on special teams, as having “great aggressiveness.’’

In the past two weeks, new kicker Josh Brown has missed field goal attempts from 38 and 44 yards. Asked if he would consider bringing in another kicker, Coughlin said “I’ll talk to Josh. Any time you have as few points as we have, you need points. A couple of weeks in a row now we haven’t been able to contribute.’’

C Jim Cordle made his first NFL start in Kansas City and RG James Brewer made his second. Cordle allowed two hurries and one sack, according to Pro Football Focus and also was called for a holding penalty.

“Those two guys that everybody speculated about, they did okay,’’ Coughlin said.

Saftey Will Hill returns this week from his four-game suspension for violating the NFL drug policy. Hill has been around the team facility working out and Coughlin said he expects Hill to be ready to practice. … Immediately after the loss to the Chiefs, Coughlin was highly critical of the 59-yard punt by Steve Weatherford that was returned 89 yards for a touchdown by Dexter McCluster even though the kick was angled to the left side, caught by McCluster at the numbers. “It traveled a long way and, to be honest with you, there wasn’t much coverage,’’ Coughlin said of the punt a day later. … CB Terrell Thomas played a season-high 66 plays versus the Chiefs, 88 percent of the 75 defensive snaps.
