Tom Seaver … Dwight Gooden … Dillon Gee.

Gee was officially named Monday as the Mets’ Opening Day starter, getting the nod over fellow right-handers Bartolo Colon and Zack Wheeler after Jon Niese’s season debut was delayed by elbow soreness.

The list of pitchers who have started Game 1 for the Amazin’s through the years includes a number of franchise greats along with a fair share of journeymen such as Gee, a 27-year-old right-hander with a career record of 33-26.
