Michael Strahan lands seven-figure memoirs deal

Michael Strahan, the former New York Giants All-Pro defensive end turned media personality, has committed to write his memoirs for an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

Strahan’s literary agent, Eric Simonoff of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, handled the negotiations for what is believed to be a seven-figure deal.

Strahan, of course, went out a winner, retiring after the Giants’ last Super Bowl victory following the 2007 season. That’s when they knocked off the previously unbeaten New England Patriots in one of the most stunning upsets in NFL history.

Shortly after the victory parade, Strahan landed a sports analyst gig with Fox NFL Sunday.

He reached new heights when he teamed with Kelly Ripa on ABC-TV’s morning talk show “Live! with Kelly and Michael,” which goes up against NBC’s “Today” show in the 9 a.m. hour.

The book deal will go to a new imprint, 37 Ink, part of Simon & Schuster’s Atria Publishing Group. 37 Ink is headed by Vice President and Publisher Dawn Davis, who jumped from HarperCollins earlier this year and has already landed a few titles on bestseller lists. Those include “The Butler: A Witness to History” and “12 Years A Slave,” which is being re-issued in hard cover in time for Christmas.

When asked about the Strahan book, Davis said, “We’re still working out a few details.”

Reps for Strahan did not respond by presstime.
