MAYOR IN A HUFF OVER WINDMILLS

Tilting on behalf of windmills, Mayor Bloomberg yesterday came out in support of alternative energy fuels from ethanol to nuclear power to break the stranglehold of OPEC.

He also took a swipe at opponents of a massive windmill project off Cape Cod, who happen to include Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“Every time somebody wants to put up a windmill farm, somebody says it’ll hurt the birds, it’ll disrupt my view,” said the mayor.

“Off the Cape Cod coast somebody wanted to build a wind farm and some elected officials were opposed to that.” Kennedy has attacked the project, saying it’s too costly and is unsuitable for the setting.

“I wouldn’t build a wind farm in Yosemite National Park. Nor would I build one on Nantucket Sound,” Kennedy said in an op-ed article.

The mayor argued all forms of alternative fuels have to be considered and that OPEC is manipulating the energy market and moving “monies from us to them.”
