BASEBALL: Myers to Chisox

Reliever Mike Myers and the White Sox reached agreement on a contract yesterday, two weeks after the Yankees cut the submarining lefty.

The 38-year-old Myers will get the prorated minimum salary for the rest of this season. The White Sox hold a $1.1 million option for next year with no buyout.

LLWS: All games washed out

All five games at the Little League World Series were postponed because of rain yesterday in Williamsport, Pa. The postponements will force the first round of the tournament to be pushed back a day.

NASCAR: Another rainout

A second straight day of rain washed out another effort by NASCAR to run the 3M Performance 400 Nextel Cup race yesterday in Brooklyn, Mich. The race, originally scheduled to be run on Sunday, was rescheduled for 10 a.m. today.

TENNIS: U.S. Open seeds

Three-time defending champion Roger Federer was seeded No. 1 at the U.S. Open for the fourth consecutive year, and Justine Henin topped the women’s seedings yesterday.

With the tourney starting on Monday, Rafael Nadal was seeded No. 2 followed by Novak Djokovic, Nikolay Davydenko and Andy Roddick. Among the women, defending champion Maria Sharapova was No. 2, followed by Jelena Jankovic, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Ana Ivanovic. Serena and Venus Williams, who each won the U.S. Open twice, were the only American women seeded, with Serena at No. 8, and Venus at No. 12.

GOLF: Blind golfer has ace

Sheila Drummond, blinded by diabetes 26 years ago, experienced the highlight of her golfing career Sunday, recording an ace on the 144-yard, par-3 fourth hole at Mahoning Valley Country Club in Lehighton, Pa.

Drummond, 53, is a member of the board of directors of the U.S. Blind Golfers Association, and the organization believes she is the first totally blind female to record a hole-in-one.
