NY’S ‘WEALTH’ OF POLS

WASHINGTON – Rep. Carolyn Maloney, worth at least $19 million, is New York’s wealthiest lawmaker, according to a Washington newspaper’s analysis of personal finance records released yesterday.

Maloney’s big bucks, from her portion of a real-estate development company, placed the Democrat – whose district includes parts of Manhattan and Queens – at No. 16 on Roll Call’s “50 Richest Members of Congress” list.

Other New Yorkers on the list are: Westchester Rep. Nita Lowey (D), 17th, with $17.77 million, and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D), 29th, with $10.39 million.

Among New Jersey lawmakers represented were Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D), seventh, with $55.33 million, and Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R), 12th, with $22.41 million.

First on the list – which Roll Call said may underestimate assets – was Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), with $230.98 million.

GOP presidential nominee John McCain (R-Ariz.) ranked 13th, with $19.64 million.
