WILD CAR CHASE IN BROOKLYN

A car thief led police on a wild, high-speed chase through Brooklyn, driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic, crashing into parked autos, running through back yards and jumping over fences before being captured, authorities said yesterday.

The drama began at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, when Cory Hampton, 22, swiped car keys from the jacket of Delroy Brooks, 21, in a house in Cypress Hills, cops said.

Hampton then peeled away in Brooks’ 1994 Nissan, blowing a red light in reverse, cops said. Police spotted him and gave chase.

Cops were able to pull over Hampton, but he sped off again, hitting more than 60 mph in a 30-mph zone, officials said.

Several police cars joined in the chase, following Hampton the wrong way through oncoming traffic, cops said.

Hampton finally crashed into parked cars and bailed out of his vehicle, running through yards and hopping fences before cops grabbed him, police said.
