GOTHAM COLLEGES ARE ALL BUSINESS

The business schools at Columbia and New York University remained among the most selective in the nation, according to rankings released today.

In the 2009 Princeton Review Best 296 Business Schools, Columbia ranked third and NYU eighth for the second straight year in the “Toughest to get into” category.

Stanford University retained the top spot.

“There hasn’t been great fluctuation on the ‘Toughest to get into’ list,” said Robert Franek, publisher of Princeton Review Books. “There’s a lot of usual suspects on the list.”

Schools were ranked in 11 categories based on a survey of 19,000 students.

Also published today is the 2009 Best 174 Law Schools, which again rated CUNY Law School at Queens College the most welcoming in the country for older students.

Columbia ranked sixth toughest to get into and NYU garnered the eighth spot for its students’ career prospects.

“I’m incredibly happy with the ranking,” said Lata Nott, 24, a second-year law student at Columbia. “I think this school is great, the student body is close-knit and the professors and administration are really on top of things.”
