THE RINGS WE DO FOR LOVE

Good thing she said yes.

Otherwise, Don Walling’s catastrophic Brooklyn Bridge proposal — during which the ring fell out of the box and onto the lower roadway — would have been for naught.

Gina Pellicani swears she would have married him anyway, but that didn’t stop her butterfingered beau from climbing down the bridge tower from the pedestrian walkway and fighting traffic to retrieve the trinket.

“He does crazy things all the time, but this is definitely the craziest thing he’s ever done,” Pellicani told NBC’s “Today” show.

“I knew as soon as he said he was gonna go get it, he meant it. I just thought he was gonna walk around and down. He did not.”

Instead, he risked life and limb — and a trip to the psychiatric ward.

His daring rescue triggered a “suicide jumper” alert and motorists tried to tell him his life was indeed worth living.

“I just kept telling them, ‘I need to get that ring. I have to get that ring,’ ” Walling said.

Get it he did, and the happy couple — teachers in New York who live on Long Island — set an April 24 wedding date.

They’re hoping the ring bearer will do a better job.
