Ax swings at Condé

S.I. Newhouse Jr. is still swinging the ax at his magazine company, Condé Nast.

Yesterday, cuts came to Condé Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest and Allure.

Sources said seven staffers were booted from Traveler — four in editorial and three on the business side. Allure cut about five people Tuesday, three from the editorial side and two on the business side.

Former Allure publisher Nancy Berger Cardone, the publisher of now-defunct Gourmet rumored to be headed to any number of publishing jobs, including her former post at Allure, has instead left 4 Times Square with only a severance package.

Next up for its share of cuts is GQ today.
