Legendary “Piano Man” Billy Joel announced today that his third trip down the aisle will end in divorce — splitting up with his third wife after nearly five years of marriage.
For months, rumors have swirled that Joel’s third marriage to Katie Lee was on the rocks.
A rep for Joel confirmed to The Post that the singer and his wife are breaking up.
Various reports have linked Lee, a 27-year-old chef, with Yigal Azrouel, a 36-year-old Israeli-born fashion designer who has frequently escorted her to events.
The couple have no kids together, although Joel, 60, did father a daughter when he was married to former supermodel Christie Brinkley.
Joel and Lee were married in October 2004 at his Long Island estate and guests included Donald Trump and Alec Baldwin.
Joel met Lee, who at the time worked as a restaurant correspondent for the TV show “George Hirsch: Living it Up!” on PBS, in 2003 and proposed to her while on vacation in the Caribbean.
Joel, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who has had bouts with booze, has had more than two dozen Top 10 hits in his career, including his 1974 signature tune “Piano Man.”
Joel was married to his first wife, business manager Elizabeth Weber, from 1973 to 1982.
The crooner married Brinkley in 1985, but the couple split up nine years later.
