Tiger is best of the worst: poll

Among the biggest jerks in America, Tiger Woods is the one most likely to get a mulligan for his bad behavior.

In a poll commissioned by CBS’s “60 Minutes” and Vanity Fair magazine, 22 percent of respondents said they would forgive Woods for playing around on his wife.

A bulk of that support came from men, who were twice as likely to forgive Woods than women, pollsters said.

Woods appears to be the most likeable figure in a rogue’s gallery of bad boys that pollsters asked respondents to possibly forgive.

He gained more sympathy than accused domestic abuser Charlie Sheen (12 percent), philander John Edwards (5 percent), convicted batterer Chris Brown (3 percent) and fugitive Roman Polanski (3 percent).

Crooked financier Bernie Madoff registered zero sympathy in the poll of 1,216 adults conducted between Feb. 6 and 10.
