Mets’ radio team back despite new station

The Mets will move to a new radio home this season, but will do so with the same announcing team they had the last few years.

In a joint statement with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, the Mets announced Thursday that Howie Rose and Josh Lewin will remain the team’s broadcasters for the 2014 season on WOR (710 AM).

Back in October, when it appeared the Mets would be moving to WOR, it was not certain whether Lewin would remain a part of the broadcast team. That uncertainty was erased by the team’s statement.

The 2014 season will mark the 19th consecutive year Rose has been on the Mets’ radio broadcasts. It will be the third for Lewin, who also is the radio voice of the NFL’s San Diego Chargers, a position he has held since 2005.

The Mets also announced their spring training radio schedule. WOR will carry 15 games, beginning with a Feb. 28 contest against the Nationals. WOR also will broadcast the team’ s final exhibition games of the spring — a pair of games with the Blue Jays in Montreal on March 28 and 29.

The Mets’ radio broadcasts had been carried on WFAN since the station began operating in 1987. WFAN will now carry the Yankees.
