This week’s couple: Thirsty for more

When Spike met up with Sarah at the Flatiron hot spot Sagaponack, they talked about everything from life in NYC to careers and favorite TV shows. But things really started cooking after dinner — when Spike, a 24-year-old digital marketing coordinator, suggested they get drinks in the East Village. But did the 25-year-old nanny and writer want to go along with Spike’s late-night antics, or was she satiated at dessert?

He said:

When the host introduced me to Sarah, my first impression was that she’s classier and prettier than I had anticipated, which eased my nerves. We chatted about our mutual interest in writing and even joked about writing these recaps. During the conversation there wasn’t a single awkward moment.

I thought the date was going well, so when we finished dinner I suggested we grab another drink. Once we got to a bar, she mentioned that her friends were meeting up around the corner for a concert, I thought, “Why not?”

It was free because she was on the list, she got big points for taking me somewhere she was on the list! Before I knew it, it was 2 in the morning! As we parted ways, I asked for her number. I will definitely go out with her again.

She said:

Spike was exactly what I expected after seeing his picture: He’s tall with a great smile, and his hair sticks straight up. (He told me his cute nickname comes from his spiky hair as a toddler!)

We talked about everything and his dry, sarcastic sense of humor made me laugh, which is something I look for in a guy.

After dinner, Spike suggested a bar in the East Village. When we wound up near a concert I knew my friends were attending, I invited him along. I hadn’t expected the date to go beyond dinner, but we were having a really good time. At the end of the night, we exchanged numbers and a kiss on the cheek, during which I noticed his attractive end-of-the-day-scruff. Overall, it was a great time and I hope to hang out with him again soon.
