Deadly hit-run in Brighton Beach

Cops are searching for an SUV driver whose black Ford Explorer struck and killed a 60-year-old man crossing a street early this morning in Brooklyn’s Brighton Beach.

Officials said the victim was walking across Brighton Beach Avenue near Brighton Fourth Street shortly before 1:30 a.m., when the vehicle traveling eastbound barreled into him and took off.

Moments later, a Lincoln Town Car struck the pedestrian and dragged him a short distance before the driver realized that there was something wrong, police said.The driver got out and saw the victim and called police.

He stayed on the scene until police arrived, and took a Breathalyzer that showed no presence of alcohol, authorities said.That driver was not charged.

The victim was rushed to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Cops said he was homeless man.
